Suzie Card-Maker

Welcome!

I LOVE to create greeting cards. This is a place
for me to share some of my favorite cards with family,
fellow card-makers,and friends.
Update: Since I began this card-making blog in 2009, we have moved to a warm, sunny place, retired, and gotten very busy. Even though my love of making cards has not lessened, my time "for" card-making has diminished. I had actually considered taking down my blog because of my lack of time to make and post cards. Instead I will try to post more regularly with a variety of things. Please bear with me while I attempt to expand my topics.

MS Butterfly Border Punch

This week I used a 50% coupon to purchase a Martha Stewart butterfly border punch. I had watched a video recently on my computer which was like an infomercial for MS punches. If I could have opened the packaging on the punch before buying it, I would have realized it was a "two-step" type punch, so I was a little surprised when I punched a border for the inside of a card. Every other butterfly was still attached! Some of the MS punches are strictly punches. Another variety is one that makes more like a "crunching sound". For example, the MS butterfly punch which has "cut-out" parts. You have to carefully detach the "punched piece" at a couple of anchor points. And then there is the type the butterfly border punch is where some of the shapes are punched out and the others remain to give dimension. I DID like it, though! I haven't used the punch for the outside of a card yet, but I think it will be fun to embellish the little butterflies. The outside of the card is almost exactly the same as the other "tree" or "branch" stamped image cards I've posted lately. I made a few changes: Soft Sky instead of Bashful Blue, a different embossing folder, etc.
Thanks so much for taking time to look!

  2. Your card is very pretty, I love anything with butterflies on it. I've gotten punches home too and found out they only embossed so have learnt to read what they do.
