We've been very busy lately for being "retired people". Tomorrow we are taking our Power Squadron Boating Course exam. We've put in about 10 hours of class time so far. We've learned a lot, that is for sure. Boating on the bays here is not the same as boating on the lakes of Minnesota. You may ask "Do we have a boat?" No, we do not have a boat yet. Frankly, the whole thing is a bit intimidating. Mike thinks we should ride with other people on their boats and rent a boat for a few hours at a time before making any decisions. I agree!
Things are moving along quite well with the remodel. They are drywall-ing this week. What a difference that makes -- no more trying to visualize things. With the few new walls up and covered with the drywall, we can really "see" the plan. Monday we picked out lighting fixtures at Lee Lighting in Ft. Myers. They were just so helpful.
I hope to have some pictures posted by the end of the weekend. Needless to say, I haven't had time to create any cards. I did attend a Stampin' Up event at my friend Deb's home last night. At least I was making cards!!
Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping in for a peek!
Suzie Card-Maker
Welcome!
I LOVE to create greeting cards. This is a place
for me to share some of my favorite cards with family,
fellow card-makers,and friends.
Update: Since I began this card-making blog in 2009, we have moved to a warm, sunny place, retired, and gotten very busy. Even though my love of making cards has not lessened, my time "for" card-making has diminished. I had actually considered taking down my blog because of my lack of time to make and post cards. Instead I will try to post more regularly with a variety of things. Please bear with me while I attempt to expand my topics.

MOJO124 Sketch
This is my very first MOJO Monday card! MOJO Sketches come out every Monday ... I get them in my inbox. I usually print out the sketch or put it in my online file if I'm somewhere I can't get it printed. Along with the sketch are examples of how you might interpret the sketch done by the MOJO team. They are always amazing! Last night I sat down with the sketch and made some notes. Today I panicked when I figured out that I had no Real Red and no Black cardstock! I love using red, black, and white for Valentines. How could I have forgotten to pack these colors? Just the way I forgot so many other supplies! Yikes! On to Plan B: I decided on a white, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, and Pretty in Pink color scheme. I used 3 different Cuttlebug embossing folders, my new SU! border punch, white SU! ribbon, Rose Red and Pretty in Pink SU! markers, the Signo white gel pen, the I {HEART} Hearts stamp set, a JustRite stamp, and Marvy Uchida punches to make the circle embellishment. Thank you for looking!

Temporary Workspace and Storage Space
While our house is being remodeled, I have a makeshift workstation and storage space at the rental house here in Florida. I thought I'd share two of the pictures I took of both areas today. I had just enjoyed viewing pictures and a video of a fellow card-maker on Split Coast Stampers website. Her name is Mary Fish and her blog is http://www.stampinpretty.com/diary-of-the-stampin-pretty-zone.html Mary is also a member of the MOJO Monday design team.
I started thinking about how I am going to organize my workstation after the remodel is complete and we can move in, again. I will have to get pretty creative with storage (which will be closets) as well as at the workstation since I will be sharing it with my dear husband. Not to worry! We will each have our "own side", but limited space. This shared workstation will be on a wall in the family room. It will be just fine and will force both of us to be organized and neat. (Keep repeating this to yourself, Suzie, every day!)
A Pet Sympathy Card
My dear friend Annie had to say goodbye this past Friday to her dear Wheaton Terrier Scout. I wanted to send her a special card, but I think there must be a bag of dog stamps and embellishments back at home in my craft room that didn't make it into the car when we left for Florida. I did bring some dog-themed paper and was able to print a sentiment on cardstock with our printer here. I used SU! Kraft cardstock and envelope, DCWV dog-themed paper and coordinating cardstock, SU! confetti cardstock, Close to Cocoa ink for the inside sentiment, SU! ticket punch and triple heart punch, and browsed SCS for the sentiment. I also lined the inside of the envelope with coordinating paw prints paper to complete the "paw prints" theme. Thank you for taking time to visit.
